
Dorothea Hilhorst is Professor of Humanitarian Aid & Reconstruction at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Her publications focus on the everyday politics and practices of humanitarian aid, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, reconstruction and peace building. Her major research programme at the moment concerns situations where conflicts meet disaster.
She is also the president of the International Humanitarian Studies Association.
