Interview of Githinji Gitahi AMREF
The call for global achievement universal coverage in all countries is from the realisation that countries have built health systems, without an equity consideration.
This has resulted in over half the world’s population not having optimal access to healthcare, and this means that over 270,000 people fall into poverty every day, because they are trying to financially access healthcare.
Over 90% of these people actually are in the low and middle income countries. This cannot continue any longer.
I will be coming over to Cannes at the World Conference on Health and Climate Change, to exchange ideas, listen and share, to know exactly how we are going to move forward to achieve wellbeing and health for all through universal coverage in the world.
Thank you and see you there.
